About

During the anti-wrinkle procedure with AZZALURE (ACCEPTED IN THE UK), several small injections of botulinum toxin are made into the muscles where fine lines and wrinkles appear.

This protein fits exactly into receptors in the nerve endings of those muscles. This prevents the release of a chemical substance known as acetylcholine, which makes muscles contract and move.

Relaxing these muscles will help smooth the wrinkles – such as frown lines and crow’s feet – that are caused by repeated muscle contraction.

Certain areas of the face often develop wrinkles or deep lines as a result of making the same facial movement, many thousands of times, over the years. Relaxing muscles in your face can improve your appearance in a number of ways.

Treatment prevents repetitive creasing of the skin, allowing the body’s natural repair process to lay down collagen across a wrinkle, reducing its depth.

Muscles that pull the eyebrows down can be released, allowing a flattering upward lift. Frowning muscles which are fixed in a negative expression can be relaxed, making the face look happier.

Botulinum toxin can be used to treat crow’s feet, frown lines, forehead lines, lip lines and other common ‘wrinkle zones’. Botox can also be used to lift areas of the mouth, chin and neck.

Indications

- Expression lines, mainly in the upper part of the face, - Around the eyes (“crow’s feet”),

- Transversal forehead lines,

- Between the eyebrows (“lion’s wrinkle”),

- Wrinkles of the lower part of the face

– “marionette’s furrows”,

- the chin and the neck imperfections,

- Excessive sweating of hands and feet.

Treatment Overview

Botulinum Toxin (Botox, Azzalure) is a naturally occurring protein. It is manufactured in the laboratory from bacteria called Clostridium Botulinum. Used in small, precise doses, this protein has been used to relax muscles all over the body for more than 20 years. Some of its medical applications, for example, are to treat eye spasms, contracted muscles in cerebral palsy and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).

Side effects:

- Pain at the time of injection;

- Small haematomas (bruises) which may appear at the place of injection if the needle punches a small blood vessel;

- Excessive lowering or lifting of eyebrows in case of forehead wrinkle treatment;

- Small, temporary swelling with gentle formication feeling at the place of the injection;

- Excessive atonicity of muscles (falling eyelid, falling lip corner)

- Headache, disappearing after an analgesic.

These reactions are temporary, most of them usually disappear after a few days. The effect of excessive muscle atonicity may remain for 2-6 weeks.
